Comprehensive DBT consists of:
Individual Therapy - with a DBT trained therapist
DBT Skills Group - learn DBT skills in an interactive, classroom-style format
Phone Coaching - DBT skill support between sessions
Weekly Consultation - clinicians meet weekly to ensure fidelity to the treatment model
DBT Skills Group is a structured, dynamic, interactive group experience that teaches:
Core Mindfulness- skills to increase awareness and clarity in the present moment
Distress Tolerance- skills to allow people to live without being ruled by emotions, thoughts and urges
Emotion Regulation- skills to help experience a full range of emotions, while decreasing vulnerability to distressing emotions
Interpersonal Effectiveness– skills to improve and effectively navigate relationships in many environments
Walking the Middle Path– skills to help balance extreme thinking and manage conflict within families and environments. This module was created specifically for DBT Skills Training for Adolescents
Dialectical Parenting is a structured, dynamic, interactive group experience open to any parent/guardian that helps you:
Develop insight into factors that create conflict in the parent/teen relationship
Implement effective communication skills
Learn to apply strategies designed to increase desired behavior, and decrease undesired behavior
Reduce conflict
Improve quality of relationships

Teens
Comprehensive DBT– Adolescents
FOR
13 years old and 8th grade to 18 years old (high school senior)
SCHEDULE
INDIVIDUAL- frequency and duration varies by individual need
GROUP- Weekly 2-hour sessions in a 24-week program. (Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays 7pm - 9pm)
Individual DBT therapy with an intensively trained DBT therapist
Weekly Multi-Family DBT skills group attended by the adolescent and one guardian. The full course of skills is 24 weeks - each group is 2 hours long and led by two DBT therapists
DBT skills phone coaching is available to the teen between therapy sessions from their DBT individual therapist to encourage effective skill use and the parents are assigned a DBT skills coach as well.
Multi-Family DBT Skills Group ONLY– Adolescents
FOR
13 years old and 8th grade to 18 years old (high school senior)
SCHEDULE
Weekly 2-hour sessions in a 24-week program. (Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays 7pm - 9pm)
Weekly Multi-Family DBT skills group attended by the adolescent and one guardian. The full course of skills is 24 weeks - each group is 2 hours long and led by two DBT therapists
Individual therapy with therapist of their choosing is required to be eligible for this DBT skills group. The adolescent’s individual therapist will remain the support responsible for crisis management and encourage new skill practice between group sessions
OPAL DBT group leaders will collaborate with the non-DBT therapist as needed
Young Adults
Comprehensive DBT– Young Adults
FOR
17 years old (post-high school) to 24 years old
SCHEDULE
INDIVIDUAL- frequency and duration varies by individual need
GROUP– Weekly 90 minute sessions in a 24-week program. (Tuesdays 12pm - 1:30 pm or Wednesdays 1pm - 2:30pm)
Individual DBT therapy with an intensively trained DBT therapist
Weekly DBT skills group attended by the young adult. The full course is 24 weeks - each group is 1.5 hours long and led by two DBT therapists
DBT skills phone coaching is available to the young adult between therapy sessions from their DBT individual therapist to encourage effective skill use
DBT Skills Group ONLY– Young Adults
FOR

Advanced DBT Skills Group– Young Adult
FOR
17 years old (post-high school) to 24 years old who have completed, at minimum, a full DBT program and are recommended by a therapist.
SCHEDULE
Weekly 90 minute sessions in a 16-week program
Wednesdays 4pm - 5:30pm
Weekly DBT skills group for the young adult. The full course is 16 weeks - each is group 1.5 hours long and run by a DBT therapist
Individual therapy with a therapist of their choosing is required to be eligible for this DBT skills group. The young adult’s individual therapist will remain the support responsible for crisis management and new skill practice between group sessions
The group leader will collaborate with the non-DBT therapist as needed
Parents
Dialectical Parenting Skills Group
FOR
Open to ANY parents or caregivers of teens and young adults
SCHEDULE
Weekly 90 minute sessions in a 6-week program. (Mondays 5pm - 6:30pm)
Upon completion of the 6-week program, group members have the option to participate in monthly group sessions to support continued skill use.
Participants will learn the skills needed to:
Identify behaviors that are typical versus cause for concern
Understand the factors that prompt and maintain dysregulation
Communicate with their children in a way that fosters reduced emotional intensity, increases communication, and reduces conflict in the relationship
Learn to apply strategies designed to increase desired behaviors, and reduce undesired behaviors
Dialectical Parenting Skills - Individual

One-on-one skills training tailored for you:

DBT for Trauma/PTSD (DBT-PE)
FOR

DBT with DBT-PE is a comprehensive treatment that is effective in reducing PTSD/trauma symptoms (suicidal and self-injurious behavior, dissociation, shame, guilt, depression, and social impairment)
DBT-PE protocol is based on Prolonged Exposure therapy and was adapted by Dr. Melanie Harned to fit the needs of high-risk and multi-problem clients receiving DBT
DBT-Informed Individual Therapy
FOR
13 years old and 8th grade to 24 years old
SCHEDULE
INDIVIDUAL- frequency and duration varies by individual need
DBT-Informed therapy uses some of the methods or structure of DBT (e.g. using the DBT manual to teach skills, individual therapy following the principles of DBT); it does not include all the components to be considered Comprehensive DBT
Individual Psychotherapy
FOR
13 years and older

OPAL clinicians also offer individual therapy for teens, young adults, and adults with conditions including but not limited to depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and adjustment disorders. We are also able to support those currently managing grief and loss, relationship issues and gender and sexual identity concerns. Clinicians also provide consultation to parents on a variety of issues.
OPAL clinicians have extensive experience and are skilled in a range of therapy approaches in addition to DBT, including cognitive-behavioral (CBT), cognitive processing (CPT), acceptance and commitment (ACT), mindfulness-based, and insight-oriented.

Please note OPAL DBT, LLC is a fee-for-service practice. Payment may be made by cash, check, HSA, and most major credit cards. We do not accept any commercial insurance or Medicare/Medicaid. We will provide receipts that can be independently submitted for reimbursement.
